ChildSafe is the safety management system used by the LCA to maximise safety for the children/young people (those under 18 yrs old) who participate in our ministry programs. The ChildSafe system assists LCA congregations to plan safe activities and programs and to run them with teams of people who have been screened and have attended training.
Previously training workshops covered one or the other of the above and many people were required to attend both. Now we have one training workshop which covers both these areas and has a wider focus for congregational ministry.
Who needs to attend a Safe Church training workshop?
Our church is serious about being a safe place for all who attend any of its ministry programs, therefore pastors (including ‘active’ retired pastors), lay workers, elders (or equivalent), all people who engage in children’s/youth ministry, congregational leaders (decision makers) and congregational employees are required to attend a training workshop.
Is there a cost for the training?
Yes. You will be asked to give up about 5 to 6 hours of your time to attend training. The finanical cost will be billed to your congregation/parish by the District. The fee covers the manuals that participants receive and an administration fee.
How to get training for your congregation/parish?
To arrange for a Safe Church training workshop, contact Kaye at the District office: firstname.lastname@example.org or (02) 9736 2366.
Forms for congregational use
The training workshop will refer participants to the use of several forms to be used in the planning of ministries within your congregations and also include some administrative forms. Forms can be downloaded by clicking here.
